Multi Window
Designed at Samsung in 2011
Multi Window is a high profile and much appreciated feature which has given Samsung differentiation for years and I was in charge of a project that laid the base for the idea. Originally designed for the first Galaxy Note the design was introduced in Note 2.

Ideation
I created Multi Window as part of a larger project to come up with unique selling points for the first Galaxy Note. This was a completely new form factor with a much larger screen than any phone before it. In order to think of the possibilities and limitation of this device, I created quick product mock ups that I inserted my regular phone into and carried around. I also used the mock ups in the brainstorming sessions I hosted in the studio.
Design
Multitasking was a completely unheard of concept at this time but the logic was that the screen rel-estate of the Note is more than twice the size of some existing phones and the target audience for the device live very busy lives. My design is based on simple yet powerful features, mostly based on natural gestures.
One of the best [feature] is its excellent enhanced multi-tasking, with Multi Window […] allowing you to be loads more productive every day.

Deliverables
The design was originally made with the first Galaxy Note in mind but it took Samsung a long time to implement and therefor this feature was introduces with the Note 2. Multi Window has since then been an integral part of the Note series and is now also available on the S series since the Galaxy S6.
