Voice recorder
Designed at Samsung in 2013
When I designed the Press Note solution I also had to redesign the voice recorder application in order to cater for journalists more advanced needs. This version has since been incorporated in all devices and is now the standard voice recording application.

Research
My design of the voice recorder application was a result of the research output from the Press Note solution. When we talked to journalist from a variety of publication such as The Times, The metro, T3.com and others it became clear that more advance features were needed to cover their needs.
Ideation
I have found that personas are very important when ideation as designing for everybody is designing for nobody. In one workshop I made the persona creation a part of the session itself by having people draw personality cards from a deck and then designing a solution for the resulting persona.
Design
I was working as an expatriate in South Korea for 3 months while I was designing this application. This was very helpful in order to manage the project and all it’s stakeholders such as graphics, implementation and usability validation.
Samsung smartphones make an effort to create a great voice recording experience.

Delivery
My voice recorder application was first presented as part of the Press Note solution and demonstrated during the London 2012 Olympics. It had some key differentiating features such as bookmarks and pervasive controls. These features was eventually requested by enough users for Samsung to implemented them in the standard voice recorder application in the Note 3.
